Meet Chris Hoy
Mayor Chris Hoy is a fourth generation Oregonian with a long history of service and leadership. Chris served on the city council representing the residents of Ward 6 on and was appointed as the State Representative for House District 21 prior to his election as Salem's mayor.
Chris retired from a distinguished career in public safety serving for more than 30 years. He most recently served as Undersheriff at the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. He previously served in leadership positions at both the Marion and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Offices.
As mayor Chris has focused on housing and homelessness, public safety, and making Salem a great place to live.
Chris serves on the Marion County Public Safety Coordinating Council and serves as vice-chair of the Mid-Willamette Homeless Alliance Board of Directors.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Willamette University and has completed masters level coursework in Public Administration from Lewis and Clark College. In addition to his duties as mayor, Chris volunteers on the Center for Hope and Safety Advisory Committee among others.
Chris has lived in Salem since 2004 is the proud dad of two rescue dogs.
